We (the Zinn Education Project, coordinated by two non-profit organizations: Teaching for Change and Rethinking Schools) are the sole owners of the information collected on these sites. We only have access to or collect information that users provide us with voluntarily via email, during site registration, or other direct contact.
We will not share, sell, or rent this information to anyone.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. Our e-newsletters are sent via Constant Contact and each e-newsletter offers the option to opt out from all future communication.
You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address given on our website:
- See what data we have about you, if any.
- Change/correct any data we have about you.
- Have us delete any data we have about you.
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. We do not collect sensitive information, such as credit card data. When you submit sensitive information via the website to make a donation, your information is protected both online and offline by Gravity Forms (see their privacy policy). You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page. Once entered into the forms we present, our website is not the recipient of your sensitive information and we do not store this information.
Registration
In order to use this website’s downloads feature, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration, a user is required to give certain information (such as a valid email address). This information is used to contact you about additional lessons and programs offered by the Zinn Education Project. At your option, you may also provide information (such as location and how you learned about the site), but it is not required.
Cookies
We use “cookies” on these sites. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. We use cookies for web analytics, like those offered by Google Analytics, to help us understand things like how long a visitor stays on our website, what pages they find most useful, and how they arrived. Surveys, Book Offers, and Share Your Story
Occasionally we request additional information via surveys, book offers, and “Share Your Story” submission forms. Participation is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address). Contact information will be used to correspond with the person who shared a story and when there is a book offer, to send the respective title. Your name and “classroom story” may appear on our site to promote teaching people’s history, but your information will not be sold, rented, or given to any third-party for commercial or non-commercial purposes without your consent.
