On February 17, 1942, in Monroe, Louisiana, Huey P. Newton was born.

Newton went on to become co-founder of The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. He often visited the Panther schools and breakfast programs.

The Zinn Education Project offers lessons and readings on the Black Panthers, including “What We Want, What We Believe’: Teaching with the Black Panthers’ Ten Point Program” and The Sky’s The Limit: People v. Newton, The REAL Trial of the 20th Century? by Lise Pearlman on major 20th century court trials with a detailed focus on the Huey Newton.
